Accessibility statement for FARMDATA+

This accessibility statement applies to the FARMDATA+ service, available at:
https://farmdata.farmingconnect.gov.wales

FARMDATA+ is operated by the Welsh Government’s Farming Connect programme. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • use most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not yet fully accessible:

  • A small number of links remain without valid href attributes, affecting navigation for some assistive technologies.
  • Some pages previously contained mis‑nested headings, which could be confusing for users navigating with screen readers.
  • A small number of form controls previously lacked unique labels (e.g. “Manage” buttons for KPI entries), making them difficult for assistive technologies to interpret.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Farming Connect is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non‑accessible content

The content listed below is non‑accessible for the following reasons:

Invalid or missing link values

Some links did not contain valid href values. This can cause difficulties for users of assistive technologies, as links may not be announced or behave as expected. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value).

A small number of minor instances remain and will be resolved by 10 March 2026.

Non‑compliance with the accessibility regulations

Incorrect or unnecessary ARIA attributes

Some pages contained unnecessary ARIA attributes where the aria-describedby value did not match an element ID. This can result in incorrect or confusing information being provided to assistive technologies. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships).

We fixed all identified instances on 27 February 2026.

Affected pages included:

  • /enterprise/442/3/edit
  • /enterprise/444/3/edit

Form control labels not unique

Some “Manage” buttons for KPI entries did not provide sufficient context to distinguish them from one another. This made it harder for screen reader users to understand the purpose of each control. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria 2.4.6 (Headings and Labels).

We fixed this issue on 27 February 2026 by adding visually hidden descriptive text, for example “Manage Sow replacement rate %”.

Affected page included:

  • /9238492384

Incorrect heading structure

Some navigation headings were marked up as <h2> elements appearing before the <h1> in the page structure. This created an incorrect heading hierarchy, which can make page structure harder to understand for screen reader users. This fails WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships).

We fixed this issue on 27 February 2026 by removing the unnecessary <h2> elements.

Disproportionate burden

We are not currently claiming any issues as a disproportionate burden.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We will continue to review FarmData+ as new features are added. Remaining link fixes will be completed prior to launch, and periodic audits will continue as part of Farming Connects digital accessibility commitments.
